Whodunnit? Cybercrop ...

It's cc weekend over at UKS and the theme is murder and mystery... ooh, scary! I've been joining in as I can in a fairly relaxed way and have done a few layouts, mostly from family hols in summer 07 down in Yorkshire. There's been a few new things for me like printing out the journalling title and the watercolour frames so good fun all round.

Long time no blog! Or what happened to February ....

It has been a while, hasn't it? Well I guess I just got busy, work, life, travel - all those things that get in the way of online life. But I have been doing a few things: made a couple of cushions for my mum's birthday, using an old and inadvertently felted jumper. And today I managed to do some collage papers for a UKS swap - not quite sure what exactly was wanted so hope these are okay!

CC report!

Well I don't know what the UKS party cyber crop did to me, but it's taken ages to recover and get back onto blogger .... I guess I did have to go away for work for a bit though I suppose. But I had great fun one weekend as my mum and sister came to my flat for the weekend and we set up the dining table, brought out the stash, bought in the choccie and champagne and chinese food when necessary, and had a great time! So here's a few shots featuring my wee crop creature with the party bags he made for his pals! And here's some of the los I managed - the first one was using up scraps from the Banana Frog kit, and the others all followed the cc classes.

Cheshire Cats

Well the tea party's over now at UKS, and though I only got 2 layouts done during it, I did enjoy it, and will be doing some of the other classes in my own time over the next wee whiley. This was one of the challenges to do something relating to grins, a la Cheshire Cat. So here's a photo of my sis which she foolishly let me have!! I like this cos it was quick and it feels bright and sunny. The paper is Imagination Project.

Cyber Crop!

The Mad Hatters Cyber Crop is on at UKS! Shame that life can get in the way of it sometimes though eh? Anyway, here is my cyber bear, all kitted out for a clubs victory (and you can see his cousin here, but he's a Heart, boo!) I managed one class layout last night, though I hadn't prepared the stuff you were meant to have, paper doilies etc, so I kind of improvised. I like this idea of painting over a mask/stencil though so may just need to track down some doilies and give it a go. Mine is a lot messier than the original class, but I had this kind of fuzzy picture which needed something to take away from the fuzziness so I thought this might work (it was also late and I was quite sleep deprived!)

What's on your mind?

Getting fit! I have to do something, and keep it going as well. All this spring weather, and bright colours and lack of clothes that fit have a lot to do with it, and it has been on my mind all week. So it seemed the thing to do for Emily's Art Journal prompt this week, week 13 would you believe? I keep starting things, like yoga, or healthy eating, or walking, but it slips after a week or two, so I need to mend my ways and somehow make it part of my life!
And in the spirit of my alter ego the White Rabbit, I am just scrapping in another UKS weekly challenge before the deadline. The challenge was to use a children's title (for Hans Christian Anderson), tartan (for Edinburgh science week), 2 types of brown in the papers (for choccie) and something new (for spring). So this is a photo from a Baltic cruise Mum and I went on in May 2005, and is the first of probably loads of los from the trip. I loved Hans Christian Anderson stories as a kid, and it was great to walk along the quayside in Copenhagan in gorgeous sunny weather and come across the famous statue.

What season does this say to you?

My UKS team do fortnightly challenges in a 6x6 format, and this one was to scrap your favourite season or time of the year, but, wait for it (and this was hard for me) without words... So, hopefully this piccie taken almost 20 years ago, will say summer to anyone looking at it (I think the hat helps!), long lazy days sitting beside a waterfall.... ah if only!

Suddenly it's spring!

That's what it feels like today anyway, so let's hope it continues.... and in a springlike, almost Easter mood I did this week's UKS challenge which was to use a spring theme, rabbits or lambs, daffodils and 3 patterned papers. Well no daffs I'm afraid, but I did have these piccies of decorations I brought back from Germany one Easter and we put up in the hallway. So an Easter layout, while I look at the sunshine and dream of chocolate eggs!

You're my best friend!

Hi folks, back again from the wet one day and strangely sunny the next north west. I was at a yoga class today, so have been kind of tired this evening with only one wee layout and absolutely no tidying up done at all. It's an intensive start up yoga weekend so I'm back there at 10am tomorrow, let's hope I can cope!
So this is what I did tonight. My UKS team, the Bitty Blossoms, are runnng an in house fortnightly challenge, and this time it was to use a photo of your other half or best friend, 4 patterned papers, cut with straight edges like patchwork and stitching. Well, I still don't have a piccie of my OH (I know, I'll get kicked out of the scrappers' club), but this wee bear, which you may remember celebrated his 21st birthday at Hogmanay, is definitely a good candidate for best friend!

Another week over!

Survived another week, yay! And what with hairdressers and opticians this week I feel like I've been getting an MOT...I still feel terribly behind with work things due to the post flu tiredness but am hoping to do some catch up over the week end (as well as tidying the scrap room...) and maybe just the odd bit of scrapping too! So here's one I've not put on before. It's the first UKS weekly challenge that I did, and I still rather like the way these 2 old pals look. Have a great weekend everyone!

Topsy Turvy

Haven't scrapped anything today, shame when work gets in the way eh? And what with all the time this trying to be healthy and get fitter malarkey takes, I'll just need to show you one of fav los from pre-blog days. This was in response to a challenge on UKS by Scrappybunny, which jumped out at me one night when I was kind of at a loose end. The challeng was simply to make a lo completely UPSIDE DOWN, ie with it all facing away from you. Now, I don't know quite what kind of mood I was in but this really appealed, so I did it all, even the journalling, upside down, though I guess the glass of gin helped....And you know what, I really like the result, and got an interesting gallery comment on it saying that they'd been told to do this at art school! So, I still have a bit of habit of turning stuff the other way round sometimes when I get a bit stuck, maybe I should go off and do another topsy turvy one...

Today's Favourites

It's been a lazy Sunday today, ain't they just grand? Reading the papers, going out for lunch, doing the sudoku! And of course a wee bit of scrapping too.... Today I did some challenges, the UKS weekly challenge which was to incorporate red, circles, favourite things and handwritten journalling. I chose two piccies of places I love, Callanish standing stones in Lewis, and Am Buachaille Etive Mor, the Great Herdsman of Etive, standing guard on the entrance to Glencoe. They are both beautiful places, Callanish I've only seen twice, but I drive through Glencoe every week so I've seen it in all weathers, and every light, and the Buachaille is always impressive. My other lo for today is the Bitty Blossoms own team challenge. We're doing a 6x6 My Favourites book, with each team member taking a turn to set a challenge theme and technique. This is the first one and was Favourite Films or Actors, and to use stamping. Well, I kind of struggled, I only went to the movies once last year (I know, I need a life!) and have never really been a big fan of any particular actor, but a team mate suggested I do a genre, so with my love of travel it was an easy decision to make, and ended up with a photoless lo!

It's February!

Yay! Cos I've been a bit fed up with January... it started out great but then this flu bug came and got hold of me and it's been no fun since. But now it's February, and I'm getting better and am even off today for a drive and a couple of days up north, it's quite exciting as I'm usually away somewhere almost every week but I've been nowhere this year so far. So fingers crossed it goes well. And as I'll not be around for a few days here's my latest - my UKS house, the Blue Brads decided to do challenges so this is for the Ink it Up! challenge. I've chalk inked the edges and under the photos, stamped the title and paisley patterns with Banana Frog stamps, and inked the flower embellies too! Fun, and just a wee bitty messy too! But I love the kind of soft look it gives.
